I embarked upon this challenge to try to give something back. I am incredibly privileged to have three very healthy happy boys. When I learnt about action medical research and what they do I couldn't help but think that there should be more awareness for the charity and what they are working towards.

I have been affected by friends, family and colleagues, who have not been as fortunate as me, particularly close to my heart is my nephew Tom who has various conditions and this is my opportunity to give something back.

This is not a challenge I will be facing on my own, my training partner and very good friend Andy is coming along for the ride giving me the motivation and sense of commitment required for the rigorous schedule over the next few months.

I realise there are a hundred and one charities that you could donate to, the fact that you may witness a Yorkshire Ale quaffer with a penchant for pies trying to complete 26 miles in under 4hrs should hopefully be enough to motivate you to donate.
