#TeamOrange are taking on the London Marathon 2017 to help in the fight against muscle-wasting conditions

Story

At the start of this year my nephew was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and I'll be running the London marathon next year to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK.

DMD is a muscle wasting condition caused by a lack of protein called Dystrophin. It generally only affects boys. Over time, muscles become weaker and mobility is reduced with most boys becoming wheel chair bound by the age of 11 on average. Average life expectancy for children diagnosed with Duchenne is slowly increasing due to more research and a better understanding of the condition.

While there is no cure for DMD there is promising research into the condition. This is where you come in. Please donate whatever you can as every penny helps go towards research and raising the profile of DMD.

Thank you
