Story
Following on from my trek across the Sahara in November 2016, and successfully raising nearly £5000 for ‘Children with Cancer’, I am now aiming to raise £1,000 for a more local charity, Kisses4Kids.
They are an amazing Harlow based charity, that works so hard to help terminally or long term ill children in Essex and Herts.
I’ve seen first hand how their work helps local families, by giving them some much needed respite from continual hospital stays and giving them a chance to spend time together as a family.
All of the money they raise goes towards helping local children and families, sometimes a child just wants a trip to the zoo, or a day at the theatre. Others have asked just for an iPad to be able to stay in touch with their families while they are in hospital!
I was lucky enough to be able to raise money for them at Princess Alexandra hospital (whilst dressed as a minion!), where I was blown away to see how much support they have given the hospital.
Just from public donations, they have funded the sensory room, the teenage getaway, where older children can recuperate from treatment, the roof top garden and the ipads in the day unit for young children to play with while having to stay in hospital.
Any charity that helps ill children deserves as much support as possible, but if I can help raise money for one in our own town it would make me very proud.
So... in order to do this, I am taking on the 10 Peaks Challenge on the 14th April, with two of my Sahara friends Cat and Nick.
We will be climbing some of the highest mountains in the UK, including the highest in England ‘Scafell Pike’.
In one LONG day, we will be attempting to climb a total of 29,800 feet, which is higher than the peak of Mount Everest! 😳🙈
I’d really appreciate any support you can give me and Kids4Kisses!
Thank you,
James
