Story
My best friend Adam Richmond was diagnosed with Multiple Myloma 2 and a half years ago. I’ll never forget that day speaking with Adam when he had to share the worst news of all; that his life will never be the same again.
In short, Adam and I have known each other since we've been around 3 years old. That's 42 years! We've shared some fantastic moments together: Holidays, hobbies, stag doos and weddings to list only a few! We've also shared some not so great moments but that's what makes us the closest of friends.
Above all of this, Adam has always been there as a friend; someone to talk to in that moment of need, someone just to be there. I only hope that I have been there for Adam. As well as being an incredible friend and a real gentleman, Adam is an amazing husband to wife Petra and an incredible father to Lucy and William.
So here goes; in an attempt to show Adam just how much he means to me, I will be attempting to run this years TCS London marathon. For those of you that know me, you will understand just how much of a challenge this is going to be. I'm not exactly the right shape for running but I'm a firm believer in whatever you set your mind to, you will achieve.
I think this is a real opportunity to also raise as much money as I possibly can for the charity that offers Adam, his family and so many others around the country, much needed care, treatment and support. Having been a part of last year’s Coast to Coast team that so incredibly raised over £16,000, I'm positive this years event will go a long way to raising more money which in turn provides opportunity for more research into this terrible disease and ultimately, one day, a cure.
Adam, this one is for you.
