Although I had already gained entry to 2017 London Marathon, I also want to use the opportunity to raise awareness and hopefully some money for Mesothelioma UK.

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer generally caused by Asbestos.

Sadly my father passed away in 2016, due to this disease.

Many cases of this Cancer are likely to occur in the coming years.  It is not uncommon for the disease to take 40 years or more to develop after initial exposure to asbestos.  Asbestos was used in the UK as late as the mid 1980s.  Many who worked or was exposed to asbestos before this period could potentially be directly affected by this disease.

The London Marathon holds many special memories for my family.  My father ran the race twice and was the inspiration for myself and my sister to also complete the race.

There is no better setting to honour his memory. Hopefully with you help we can beat this disease!
