Story
Dad…… you will be sorely missed, but your good humour, caring and loving nature and your thirst to enjoy every ounce of life will be just some of the things that will stay with me. I loved you and will continue to love you with all that I have and I know that if I could only accomplish half of what you have achieved I will die a very happy man.
Please help me raise as much money as possible for the British Heart Foundation. I'll be running in this April's London Marathon, a grueling 26 miles in memory of my dad Peter Beddall, who was sadly taken from us too early last summer.
I desperately wanted to give something back to these incredible nurses & surgeons who not only afforded my family the opportunity to spend 6 important months with Dad post his initial heart attack when they literally scrapped him up from the hospital entrance, having driven himself for 30 minutes through the flooded lanes of Herefordshire at 1.30am in the morning. 'It was like a John Wayne movie', he recounted, 'multiple bullets and I was going down'. But no, they managed to pull him back so that we could all say the things we needed to say to him prior to his operation. For that, myself and a few others will be eternally grateful. Secondly, their efforts at preparing him mentally for an operation from day one through to just moments before the op - as they had him laughing and cursing the success and failure of his beloved Wolverhampton Wanders football club. Finally, their ability to deliver the most awful news having spent the last 28 hours in surgery with the grace and dignity that the moment deserves when emotions are so raw. Many say its their job, but I can't even bring myself to understand how they all do it once let alone many times throughout their career. For me they don't get the credit they deserve.
