Story
Hi
Late last year my grandmother passed away and at the wake one of my cousins had the idea of running the Leeds ½ marathon in her memory. In total their will be 8 of her grandchildren running.
In the last few years of her life she started to suffer with Dementia, so we thought it would be a nice idea to run in support of the Alzheimer’s Society.
The money donated will go to help:
“Alzheimer’s Society is the leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. We provide information and support to people with any form of dementia and their carers through our publications, National Dementia Helpline, website, and more than 2,000 local services. We campaign for better quality of life for people with dementia and greater understanding of dementia. We also fund an innovative programme of medical and social research into the cause, cure and prevention of dementia and the care people receive.”
From an emotional perspective Dementia unfortunately is a disease that slowly takes away from you the person you love.I do many events over the year but rarely collect money for charity so please support me with this one.
Thanks
James
