Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This is partly about raising money for charity, partly about completing a personal challenge and self-improvement.
Inspired by Andy Holgate's book; 'Can't Run, Can't Swim, Can't Ride', I hope this will be the first of many events in coming years. I read the book in January 2012 and decided it was about time to put myself to the test.
2012 first challenge kicked-off on Sunday 25th March when I ran in a 10k run in the New Forest - The Ringwood Rabbit Run. I managed to acheive my target of running sub-50 minutes on a hilly 10km.
In April, I bought a road bike so I could start building some long distance cycling ability. This is still a work in progress.
In August I took part in a charity football match through my work. This raised approx £1500 for Good Neighbours Scheme working with Age UK West Sussex. We trained twice a week for 8 weeks and then lost 4-0. But let's not dwell on that.
My biggest goal for 2012 was always to run my first marathon.
An now, finally, it's the big one. The Liverpool Marathon on 14th October. Nevermind London, Liverpool is where it's at.
So please give generously, but give what you can afford. Several members of my family have been affected by breast cancer, so it seemed a natural choice as my charity.
Wish me luck. All donations welcome.
