Story
We nearly lost my sister Kate last August after she gave birth to my amazing nephew Ronnie.
Hours after giving birth she developed septic shock and ended up in ICU on 24 hour dialysis and a ventilator while under sedation as her organs were failing her.
In the following days against all odds Kate was still with us and the doctors diagnosed her with a rare condition developed through pregnancy called “Hellp syndrome”.
After improvement with her other organs Kate is still left with kidney failure and is now dialysis dependant three times a week to give her some normality and try to live as normal life as she can.
The only option for Kate to move forward towards living a full and normal life is for her to receive a kidney transplant.
My sister Kate and our extended family’s have been through a year we wouldn’t wish on anyone so please if you can donate anything at all towards preventing this happening to another family in the future it would be very much appreciated and help me towards reaching the 850 miles target set this year.
There are currently 850 million people worldwide living with kidney disease. This is not OK. I'm joining the fight to help end kidney disease by completing the #850Challenge. I'm taking charge and making this year count. With kidney disease now being the 10th top cause of death, Kidney Research UK has never been more important. Kidney disease ruins and destroys lives. Research is key to transforming kidney health and support is crucial to make this happen. Please donate whatever you can, every £ will help to keep research going and help kidney patients. Kidney disease ends here.
