Story
I am running my first ever marathon, the 2026 Edinburgh Marathon for Macmillan Cancer Support in order to raise as much money as possible for people living with cancer!
Macmillan is doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care possible, whoever and wherever they are. From their Support Line to their Online Community to their Volunteer Buddies, every penny raised will help Macmillan support the 3.5 million people affected by cancer in the UK.
Around 168,000 people die from cancer every year in the UK, that's around 460 per day or one every 3 minutes.
This race is dedicated to my nana, Mary Swanson. She was the life of every room she walked into, small in size but enormous in character, and the most caring person I have ever known. She was the glue that held our family together, and she is missed every single day.
Cancer took her life in 2018, and the hardest part is knowing she never got to meet my daughter Rosie, or my niece, two little girls she would have absolutely adored. I'm running 26.2 miles for her. Every step is for Mary and every family impacted by cancer.
MacMillian go above and beyond helping those going through such a difficult period of their lives. Not only those suffering with cancer, but also the lives of the people who are important to those suffering.
Let's make this more interesting.
For every minute over 3 hours, I will do 10 burpees. (my goal is 4 hour finish... 600 burpees). I'll be running the marathon at around 88kg.
If we can double our target of £1,000 to £2,000 then I'll double the burpees.
If we can raise together £5,000, I'll tripe the burpee's.
Should I keep going?
If we can raise an incredible £10,000 I'll do 10,000 burpees in 48 hours on the first weekend of June 2026.
