Story
This November I am joining hundreds backroom staff from football club clubs across the country to run 10K or bike 25K everyday throughout November. This awesome physical challenge was started by Stephen Gilpin and Ross Burbeary at Rotherham United FC 3 years ago to help raise awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer UK. What started out as a few staff at their club has grown into 20+ football clubs from around the world also now taking part. The challenge has raised over £80K to date and continues to grow year on year.
My Dad had his prostate removed having being diagnosed with prostate cancer just under 2 years ago. All seemed OK and successful with the operation but he has just had to undergone a round of radiotherapy (33 days in a row) at Derby Royal Hospital due to an increase in his PSA count. This went well and we are keeping all fingers crossed that he has won the battle this time!
Having watched the staff take part on social media channels over the last couple of years, myself and several of our team at Game Changer Performance will be undertaking the challenge this November to help raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK and at the same time hopefully help raise the profile of the challenge that Stephen and Ross have created.
To make the challenge even more fun I am also going to be visiting several of the clubs taking part this year and doing the run or bike with their staff. Having seen some of the times last year for 10K runs and 25K rides these days could see some decent times being posted!
If you re able to support the challenge then please donate via this page.
Thanks!
