Story
Driven by a desire to help save young lives, I will be swimming the English Channel from Dover to Calais with a team in August to raise money for the Childrens Air Ambulance.
The swim from Dover to Calais is a 22.5-mile stretch point to point but likely to be much further due to the currents that will be endeavoured. The water is home to the worlds busiest shipping lanes, wild changing currents, cold temperatures and undoubtedly jellyfish stings!
The crossing must be completed in only a pair of swim shorts, swim cap and goggles. No wetsuits or floatation aids allowed so a cold swim ahead which will need to be acclimatised for. Estimated to take somewhere around 16-18 hours depending on conditions.
The Childrens Air Ambulance is a national service which is changing the face of paediatric and neonatal care through the high-speed transfer of critically ill babies and children - flying them from one hospital to another for specialist care.
Any size donations are appreciated whatever you can spare to this cause. Thankyou!
