Jake Bernstein is raising money for Experience Camps
Story
Our newest addition to the ExCamps family, the MidWest launched with rave reviews this summer. 60 campers from around the country were welcomed into the warm embrace of camp, and the first of many years of memories were made. For 6 weeks, we will embrace the spirit of competition as the camper, volunteers, and friends of each camp compete against their extended camp family to see who will emerge as the winner in the Battle of the Camps.
A few months back I volunteered at Experience Camps in Decatur, Michigan, helping five 12-year-old boys meet new people, build lasting friendships, try new things and take a break from the heavy challenges they face at home.
I stepped up to volunteer in part because I love camp, but more so because I felt I wasn't giving back to others nearly to the extent I know I am capable. Finding a cause and actually donating time (versus dollars) was one of my goals for this year, and I am thrilled that Experience Camps has helped me make a meaningful impact.
