Story
Firstly, thank you for taking your time to visit our just giving page :)
We ran, walked, jogged and got people moving to help us to complete the Virtual London Marathon on October 4th 2022 - definitely a different experience (see our journey below!)!! We're again so excited and nervous to be running this amazing event IN LONDON IN 2021 and are very grateful to be able to use this opportunity to raise money for the Stroke Association charity.
Stroke is something that is close to our hearts, and sadly our Ba (grandmother) suffered from a stroke a few years ago. With family support around her, she was able to recover from this before passing away in 2017. Unfortunately, we hear many stories where family members (parents, aunties, uncles, grandparents) or friends have experienced the impact of stroke and share a story similar to ours. Coming from a South Asian background we are at a higher risk of having a stroke and so WE WANT TO HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!
Physical activity, through running, dance and playing sports, has always been a passion of ours. So our aim is to raise awareness of how we can all reduce the risk of having a stroke by taking more steps in the right direction (pun intended ;D).
We're determined to raise a total of £2,000 and we really hope that you will donate to this cause and join us on our London Marathon journey! We'll be posting updates on social media so please show your support and follow us using the hashtag #jessandjaimvlm2020 #jessandjaimvlm
As well as donating we'd also love it if you joined us for a run/ dance/ walk/ badminton/ netball/ cricket session to help us with our training (we're up for it if you are!).
Your donation can help rebuild the lives of stroke survivors and will contribute towards research to improve treatments, care and rehabilitation for recovery after stroke. For more information about stroke please follow the links below:
