Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Yes, you have read this link correctly.... I Jaimie Patrick am doing my first ever Triathlon and yes this is the same Jaimie that can barely swim 100m or run past 3k let alone do 750m swim in open water, followed by a 20k cycle and a 6k run.
I am not crazy, but instead I am pushing myself to a goal in memory of my good friend's ( David and Hannah Cole) little boy, Oscar, who sadly and suddenly died last summer from a rare virus that was undetected. You can read the full story here: http://thinkingofoscar.com/
His death impacted us all in different ways, but for me it made me realise that life is fragile and your world can change in an instant. Therefore, for me, it's even more important to live life every day to the full and appreciate everything that you have.
So, despite being quite scared of swimming, I am doing this training and triathlon whilst thinking of Oscar and supporting two of my closest friends through their grief whilst hopefully helping other families and children who might be going through something similar.
As a collective group of 50, we are hoping to raise £100,000 for the hospital, children and parents in Oxford where Oscar was looked after for 3 weeks last year.
I would be incredibly grateful if you could take the time to sponsor me for what is a very personal cause but also would spur me on to train and get me over the finishing line !
