Story
I'm doing the Great North Run this year because I needed a challenge. I've decided to fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of John Chapman who was the dad of a close friend of mine. I've known John since I was 10 years old. He was one of lifes gifts; always happy; always smiling; always taking the mickey out of anyone & everyone! John was king of the BBQ and life and soul of the party.
Unfortunately John was diagnosed with cancer in July 2009 and died in Feb 2011 aged just 67. Macmillan nurses helped John and his family through a very difficult time and I've heard, via Samantha, how great they were with the support they gave him during his fight with Cancer.
I'm filled with dread at the thought of doing my first half marathon but the worry pales into insignificance when you compare it to what those who suffer from cancer deal with every day.
Anything you can donate will be greatfully received and is much appreciated.
