Story
We have joined together to walk 13 miles (half marathon) on Saturday 25 October 2014 to raise £20,000 for Omid International's new volunteer support project for vulnerable young refugees. The project provides mentors for young people in education struggling to settle in the UK.
Young refugees who enter the UK as a minor face a series of obstacles: language barriers, lack of family & social support, a long period of uncertainty while they await their immigration status to be decided, and disaffection during their appeal process. As a result, they suffer social exclusion and lead a very unsettled and precarious life in the UK. Omid International aims to help these young people overcome these obstacles & succeed in their education. You can find out more about the work of Omid International & further information about the walk on www.omid.org.uk
I have been a major supporter of this charity since its inception and have witnessed the good work carried out over the years. For this fundraising event, I am pledging £2000 and hope that you will be joining me in supporting this good cause by sponsoring me. Every penny counts and no amount is too small.
