Story
As many of you know, my Dad aka my wingman Goose has been bravely battling Acute Myloid Leukemia since being diagnosed last November. Part of that battle has involved needing a Stem Cell Transplant which of course, we needed to find a strong donor for. This took some time but thankfully my Dad was told that a match had been found. My Dad and my family and all of his close friends had been given the most important gift in life..Hope.
As soon as my Dad was diagnosed I started looking more into the stem cell transplant process and the charities which work extremely hard to find warriors their donors...their hope.
I have been raising awareness for the Anthony Nolan organisation through word of mouth and social media. The response I have received has been incredible and I have managed so far to get another 18 people on the Stem cell donor register with the help of my incredible family, friends and colleagues. And I intend to keep going to get even more people on the register to give other warriors their ray of hope.
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day.
September is Leaukemia awareness month this year so I have decided to take part in the Anthony Nolan Walk for Leaukemia event as one of my first fundraising challenges. My incredible close friend Tash will also be joining me and we will be walking 15 miles along the coast near where we live, on the last weekend of September. Whatever the weather.
Even if you don't want to sponsor, thats okay. But if you could please just spread the word about Stem cell donation and consider joining it yourself (if you haven't already) that would mean the world. Awareness is so cruicial for a matter that is life saving, yet one that does not get enough attention.
Thank you so so much for taking the time in reading my story. I've gotta go make my wingman proud and try make a difference to the future of stem cell donation and to those who need that life saving treatment.
Lots of love always
J xx
