Story
Alexander James Nicholls
21.07.1991 - 03.05.2012
Tuesday 3rd May 2022 will mark 10 years since Alex suddenly passed away from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Alex had a rare genetic condition called Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (Veds), which is a deficiency of collagen that can lead to spontaneous ruptures of the arteries. This is the rarest and most serious type of EDS; as yet, there is no known cure.
Alex was 20 years old when he died, just 24 hours after his final exam at Coventry University whilst we were at Centre Parcs with our close friends. Alex was an amazing boyfriend to me and I'll be forever grateful for the time that we had together.
At this milestone and in Alex's memory, I would like to raise money for Ehlers-Danlos Support UK by completing 10 x 10km races. We will also remember Alex's mum Debra, who also sadly passed away from EDS only 6 months before Alex died.
I have entered 7 x 10km organised races:
- Sunday 20th March - HADLEIGH Cross Country ✅️
- Sunday 10th April - HARLOW Road Race ✅️
- Monday 2nd May - LONDON Road Race ✅️
- Sunday 8th May - RAYLEIGH Cross Country ✅️
- Sunday 15th May - COLCHESTER Road Race ✅️
- Saturday 21st May - BRENTWOOD Cross Country ✅️
- Wednesday 22nd June - LONDON Road Race ✅️
I will also run 3 x 10km in King Georges Park:
- Thursday 2nd June - RAYLEIGH Park Run ✅️
- Friday 1st July - RAYLEIGH Park Run ✅️
- Friday 8th July - RAYLEIGH Park Run ✅️
Over the last few years, I have had health issues myself, exercise of any form has not been possible until quite recently so to finish these 10km will be an achievement for me! 🙂
I will post updates of when I've completed each 10km race on my Instagram @ jadexstewart
Thank you to everyone who kindly donates to Ehlers-Danlos Support UK in Alex's memory. However big or small, it is HUGELY appreciated! 💙
