Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please can you dig deep and sponsor me online.

My name's Jade Carr and I'm 15 yrs old. I was born with a serious heart condition called "Dilated Cardiomyopathy" and at the age of 3 1/2 I had a Heart Transplant at Harefield Hospital performed by the " Prof " Sir Magdi Yacoub.

My first British Transplant Games were 4mths after my transplant in 1997 and I won my first medals for my team, Harefield Children's; silver in the Welly Throw and silver in the 25m race. In the past 12 yrs I have only missed 1 Games, that was because I needed a Cardiac Pacemaker fitting in 2002 and I had to have a new one fitted last October 2008.

At the Games in Edinburgh 2007, I won 5 Gold medals in Badminton, Table Tennis, 100m, Long Jump & Ball Throw. This was my best year ever, especially as I was celebrating my 10th Anniversary year.

I also had the honour of representing the United Kingdom in my 1st  World Transplant Games held in Thailand, August 2007, where I won 4 Gold medals in Badminton, Table Tennis, Long Jump & Adult Women's 4 x100m Relay Team. I also won 2 Silver medals in 100m & Ball Throw.

Unfortunately we have to fund our team selection ourselves again and the cost to send each athlete to the WTG will run into the thousands. Therefore I am looking to hopefully raise about £8000 because as a Junior I have to have my parents along to chapperone me. I would love to be able to help to raise money to send my fellow Teen Team mates to the WTG Australia 2009 as well.

Also, last year, I needed to raise funds for my participation in June's European Heart & Lung Games in Vichy, France which I had been asked to attend and also last August's British Transplant Games held in Sheffield.

European Heart/Lung Games France 2008; 5 GOLD medals and 1 BRONZE.

British Transplant Games Sheffield 2008; 3 GOLD and 2 SILVER medals

Games Medal Tally now 42

So please can you help me !!

I cannot thank my Donor family enough for giving me the greatest gift of all "The Gift of Life", without their brave generosity I would not be here today, living life to the full. So if my story inspires you PLEASE take a look at the TSUK website on www.transplantsport.org.uk, follow the web links and sign up to be an Organ Donor today. You can make a difference to change someone's life, like someone did for me 12 years ago. !!!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Transplant Sport UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please will you sponsor me today??!!

Many, many thanks to everyone for their help, support and donations last year, you all helped to send me to the WTG Thailand 2007, I couldn't have done it without you.

Many thanks for your support. I will try my very best to bring home the medals again.

Lots of Love from

Jade XXX

ps It's my 12th Heart - Day Anniversary on 2nd Feb
