Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
During my third trimester with henry, we were told by specialists that the likelihood of him surviving was pretty much nil. We had multiple scans and were seen by various doctors that concluded he would probably be stillborn, and that if he was born alive, that he would only survive a matter of days.
We opted for more tests to try and understand what was going on with henry but spent the final couple months of his pregnancy in a constant downward spiral of anxiety, dread and upset. Only 12 hours before my scheduled C section, did we find out his test results were clear, but doctors still warned us they thought something would be wrong, so we went into theatre with absolutely no clue what to expect.
It was during these few months I reached out to a charity called Tommy’s. They helped me work through the way I was feeling and shed light on some of the possible processes or outcomes we may have to go through. I’m lucky enough to be able to say Henry is actually absolutely fine but not all parents that use tommys support service have that luxury.
They help bereaved families in so many ways, they offer support to parents with pregnancy complications and have a team of specialist midwife’s to assist families throughout what is probably going to be the worst time of their lives. So I would like to do my part in giving back to them. I have signed up to run the great mancester run and the great north run next year, in the name of tommys charity and pledge to raise a minimum of £1000 to help support their work. I started to get into running after I had signed up with Tommys, so as a complete beginner I can assure you this will be my biggest physical challenge yet, after pregnancy that is.
So I would like to welcome all and any donations you might be able to give in order to help other families that went through similar situations to us, and those that unfortunately have to experience the unthinkable, of losing a child.
