As many of you know I lost my darling husband to cancer on 24th September 2011.  

He was loved by so many different people in so many walks of life and I know he is missed by so many.  He was the optimist and loved his life.  He never saw the bad in anyone or anything.

He left me with 2 wonderful sons (Sam and Harry) who without them I would not be in the place where I am now.  Alex loved them so much and they were by no doubt the best thing we ever did together.

It would have been our 25th Wedding Anniversary this year on 12th September and we always said we would renew our wedding vows then.  Unfortunately  it is not to be, however on the anniversary of his funeral I will be flying off to do the Sahara Desert Trek and Hospice Challenge with my wonderful friend Diana Wissenbach.  Diana and Stefan have been great supportive friends from the moment we meet them and I am so grateful to Diana for stepping up to this challange.

All the money raised through the fundraising will be going to the Isabel Hospice.  I have chosen this charity because without them Alex would not have got his wish to die at home which when the time came was the perfect place for it to happen.

The support Alex, myself and the boys received from the Hospice was amazing, from Jackie who visited us regularly from first diagnosis, the at home support staff and the family bereavement team were all there to help us.

Unfortunately the home support which we received is only on 6 month rolling contract and can only be offered at weekends.  I would love this service to become a service that the hospice can be offering without doubt in 6 months, a year, or 2 years time and 7 days a week.  This is why I am fundraising and I hope you will help me to raise as much money as possible.
