Story
I would like you to help me support this charity as I feel there isnt enough help or advice given to families affected by Vasculitis / Auto - immune diseases. I lost my Mother, Jacqueline Potter on the 15th of May this year (2012 ) aged just 56, after a long battle with Microscopic polyangiitis .My mum first got ill when i was just 17 and my sister was 15 - having a major stroke caused by the disease which resulted in her going completely deaf and loosing the use of one arm. This didnt stop my mum and she carried on with life as best as she could suffering with lots of aches and pains, she always managed to keep a smile on her face. In October last year My Mum became a "Nan" for the fist time, she was so excited and couldnt wait to look after "Luci", then in November last year the disease struck again causing her to have 3 organ failures, my mum fought this and came home for two weeks after spending 5 months in hospital, then sadly passed away 2 weeks later. My mum only got to spend about 4 weeks in all with her granddaughter.
Doctors were baffled and it took several years to diagnose what my mum actually had. We feel not enough information and support was given to my Mother and the rest of the family and feel we need to make more people aware of different types of vasculitis. Doctors and nurses are not trained enough to deal with and understand these certain types of diseases and because of this my mother lost her life.
This photograph was taken just 3 months before she got took into hospital. My Mum was such an out-going, caring and beautiful person. Please give as little or as much as you want. Thank you x
