Story
I was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer in October 2015. I've been incredibly fortunate to receive excellent treatment from the NHS here in Northumberland - from my consultant surgeon and the oncology team to the wonderful colorectal nursing team and local district nurses here in Berwick-upon-Tweed where I live.
I turn 60 this year and, as a way of celebrating this personal landmark and my own good health, I've signed up to run the Bamburgh 10k two days before my birthday. I've never run this far before and it feels daunting and exciting. I hope you'll support me - not just financially (although that of course) - but by cheering me on my way online and - if you can - in person!
NOTE: After a bad injury in May, I'm now running the Edinburgh Women's 10k on Sunday October 23. Thanks for all your support.
Bowel cancer is one of the four most common cancers in the UK. It is totally treatable if caught early. Focused research is all part of that and that's why I'm supporting the wonderful Bowel Cancer UK.
