Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
My husband, Paul, died from prostate and bone cancer on the 6th October 2008.He was only 68. It was a long and painful illness which he bore with great bravery. His mobility was affected and he couldn't walk at the end. I can and I decided to do this hike to help raise funds in his memory. The monies raised are being divided between Prostate UK and Wellbeing of Women.
I took a week’s holiday to do it and it was very different from the many happy trips I enjoyed with Paul, but rewarding in a different way. During the hike, I slept under canvas (with no running water) and walked for many hours each day starting with our ascent of Mt Sinai for sunrise and then across the mountainous terrain of the desert, through canyons and along wadis. It was an amazing experience and completely different from anything I have done before.
£2500 of the amount raised off line was my payment to cover costs and a substantial donation to the Hike for Hope charities. Therefore any money you donate, either on the Just Giving page or otherwise, goes straight to the charities. I set a target which I thought was optimistic but , with your wonderful support, I have raised over four times that sum!
Thank you so much.
Love
Jackie
