Story
In 2019, I raised over £1,300 for St. Kentigern Hospice when I joined a group of other crazy people taking on the 3 Peaks Challenge. Over a weekend we conquered Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. It was an amazing experience and I was overwhelmed by the support I received through sponsorship and donations.
This year I am taking to the skies to raise money for Action for Children by jumping out of an aeroplane!
Action for Children is a UK charity which protects and supports children and young people by providing practical and emotional care and support. They have been helping children for more than 150 years and now run 447 services in local communities across the UK, in schools and online.
In their nurseries and children's centres, staff make sure children get the best start in life. Their foster, adoptive and modern residential services find children and young people safe and loving homes, stepping in to protect children from neglect and abuse and helping those who care for others or are at risk of homelessness.
COVID-19 took it's toll on many children with the disruption to schools, prolonged social isolation, health anxiety, and economic instability. It exposed young people to many known risk factors for mental illness, raising serious concerns about their wellbeing. Action for Children is running innovative projects like The Blues Programme to give young people the help they need to look after their mental health.
Last year Action for Children helped over 17,000 children and young people.
My tandem skydive was due to take place in 2020, but was cancelled due to lockdown. The date has now been rescheduled for Saturday, 6th May - just 4 weeks away! Eek!!
