Story

ICVI celebrated its 20th birthday in 2020. That's twenty years of ground breaking research into immunotherapy as a treatment for cancer. Our unique charity's work over the last twenty years has been devoted to supporting Professor Angus Dalgleish's pioneering research into this previously unknown field. In 2000 the idea that our immune system could be harnessed to fight cancer was dismissed by the wider cancer funding community. In response, a group of Professor Dalgleish's grateful patients set up a charity to fund a research team at St Georges University of London. Since then we have raised over £8 million and our vision of immunotherapy as a mainstream treatment for cancer has become a reality. Many mainstream charities are funding various immunotherapy projects including ours. ICVI has achieved a huge amount in the last twenty years.
