On the 13th of February 2020, when I was just 15 years old,
I was diagnosed with stage three Hodgkin’s Lymphoma; Soon after my diagnosis I moved
to the Teenage Cancer Trust ward at the Heath Hospital in Cardiff. The staff there
were supportive kind and caring, the rooms were more homely than an average
ward and there were many activities to take my mind off my treatment. Having
chemotherapy is a very stressful time but the TCT unit helped me to get through
it. I finished chemotherapy in August 2020 and was given the all clear.
My parents, family and friends have been and are continuing
to be a great support through my journey with cancer. However, not everyone is
as fortunate as I was, which makes it even more important that young
people battling cancer are given the support they need. This is not possible
without donations.
Last year I ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon and
raised £2500 for Teenage Cancer Trust, however this year I want to challenge
myself to run further and faster, so I decided to enter the ABP Newport Wales
Marathon.
I want to run this marathon not just to raise money for
Teenage Cancer Trust but also to show that being diagnosed with cancer doesn't
have to stop you from performing great accomplishments in your life.
