Story
He’s done it! Jack has walked 5 miles for his 5 years of age across boggy heathland around a loch. The Scottish weather didn’t help us and we set out in wind and rain! Luckily it cleared after a while as we made our way around the loch. The going was tough as there was no path so we were scrambling through bogs and thick heather and up and down the hills. For some parts we could walk up rocky stream beds. There were a number of streams to cross but luckily no one fell in! We were rewarded with stunning views of the loch, waterfalls and mountains. Jack and William were troopers staying in good spirits! After 4 miles we got back to the car having completed the loch loop so we changed Jack’s sodden trousers, wrung out his socks and he put dry trousers, socks and shoes on. William stopped there having enjoyed tramping along with us for stretches, jumping off tussocks onto the peaty mud and being carried for the really boggy or deep heather parts. Jack, Granny and I then tramped down the road to clock up the final mile much faster than the other cross country miles! We did it in just over 3 hours.
Jack was so pleased to have achieved the 5 miles and we were impressed he managed it with such tricky conditions.
Thank you so much for all the generous donations coming in - Jack is very happy to be raising so much money for his school.
