Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
I am one of the PR Ambassadors at Sainsbury's at Pepper Hill, Kent , We actively get involved helping out with the local community and we heard about The Magic Carpet needed for Willow Ward at Darent Valley Hospital.
One of our colleagues Jack Stobart who is also a student at Longfield Academy approached me with a view of doing something positive to raise money for our community and to mark his 18th Birthday. I suggested fund raising for a Magic Carpet. Jack decided he wanted to do a sky dive, Not only has Jack volunteered to do this brave event he has funded it himself, So please dig deep where you can and help him to help this worthy cause.
Many thanks
Claire & Jack
Whats a Magic Carpet ?
All the children that are admitted onto willow ward will benefit from the sensory magic carpet, from babies to adults. It is will aid recovery, help with physiotherapy, along with their emotional and cognitive development,it helps those with limited mobility so they are not excluded from others. The magic carpet projects images onto floors, tables and beds. It can be activated by moving over it with hands or legs and even torch light. Those that are really disabled and cannot move their limbs there is an extra app that they are hoping to purchase that will work with eye movement alone. It is a mobile unit so can be taken to individuals or in a playroom as a group activity. The downside to this is the cost £8000.
