Story
I've worked with Mustard Tree for over four years now - from volunteering in the Job Club to my currently role as Communications Manager. This is the first time I've felt like I need to ask people for support.
We all know about the cost of living crisis, but the impact it's having on our clients remains to be hidden. We are seeing more people than ever before having to register for our services, either to access low-cost food, clothing, furniture - or to get advice around debt and other hardship. Over 400 new clients registered with us in June alone. Our food costs are now around £30,000 a month - just to keep our Food Club shelves stocked.
So... along with some of my team and my friends, we've decided to take part in this year's 5k Tough Mudder at Heaton Park, and raise a bit of cash each to help Mustard Tree's clients.
The irony is not lost on me that I'm asking for money from you, during a cost of living crisis, so please only donate if you feel like you can. At this stage - as cliché as it sounds - every penny really does make a difference.
"The notorious obstacle climbing, mud running endurance event Tough Mudder is coming to Manchester's Heaton Park this October! Our fundraisers will be putting themselves to the challenge, all to raise money for Mustard Tree. The money raised will help Mustard Tree to provide support, clothing, furniture, food, training and advocacy to people facing poverty in Manchester and Salford."
