Story
On the 3rd of September I’ll be completing a Skydive at 15,000 feet with a few fabulous colleagues in support of the PAPYRUS charity. I am absolutely petrified and can’t believe what I’m doing (definitely gonna need a wine before and after) but I’m certain of the cause and the work that this charity does.
Young people especially need to know that there is always someone to talk to, even just to have a voice at the end of a phone, telling them that everything will be okay. By fundraising this can continue to be available.
I would be so extremely grateful for any sponsorships (I’ll let you see the footage of my skydive if you donate) but if you can’t, then give your time, have a browse on the PAPYRUS website, and take a look at the “TALKING ABOUT SUICIDE” campaign. It’s amazing what you can learn in five minutes and the difference it could make.
I’ve copied over the below, so you can see how every little donation helps.
*£20 pays for a young person in distress to speak with a HOPELINE advisor, discuss their thoughts and potentially save their life.
*£165 covers the cost of training someone ASIST, which is a two day course that prepares individuals to provide suicide first aid interventions.
PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, in 2018 over 1800 young people took their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINEUK..
