Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the London Marathon in 2023 in memory of my wonderful Dad, Gerry. On Sunday 23rd June 2013 my Dad passed away suddenly and without warning. I remember the day vividly, from the phone call, the numbness and then the feeling of anger and wanting to scream that came with it. I never felt heartbreak until that day. A piece of our hearts was taken forever and as much as we try to go on without him, life has never been and will never be the same again. Birthday's, anniversaries, Father's Day, Christmas, every year I struggle, I really, really struggle. Dad never met my youngest son Sam and Sam never met his Grandad, but I know they would have been double trouble together! My middle child, Thomas was only 1 when his Grandad was taken from him and Imogen was 6. 2023 brings with it Dad's 10 year anniversary of his passing and I wanted to do something in his memory. I'm not really a runner (or I didn't used to be!!), I think Dad would be a bit shocked to see what I get up to these days, but incredibly proud too!!!! I am truly honoured to be running for Heart Research UK in Dad's memory and want to make 2023 a year of positivity rather than a year of dwelling. I want some good to come from losing Dad and to keep his memory alive. I also want to help raise awareness for Heart Research UK, the importance of heart health and be a good role model for my own children by keeping healthy and active. Please, please support me in any way that you can.
