Story

The MS Challenge (4/5 July) - We did it!  It was incrediblly hard and took 4 1/2 hours.  Jackie was the MS passenger in the wheelchair this time and was carried by an amazing team safely through the forests, manoeuvring round endless trees and tree roots, through thick mud often at least knee high, through boggy ditches some chest high (seriously no exaggeration) and across rivers waist deep.  It was amazing and our 3 teams completed the Challenge all in fancy dress: we had Smurfs, Pirates and "all in the pink".  What a fantastic group of people and a brilliant weekend, despite the rain and mud!

The Walk (13/14 June)  - We did it!  What a fantastic night for the overnight walk - no rain (what a difference to last year when it rained all nighjt!) and a beautiful sunrise, and to cap it all, Dave had organised a bottle of bubbly at the first tea stop laid out on a table with strawberries to celebrate our 29th anniversary, which made it very special!

Now to the next event on 4-5 July and there's still time to sponsor us please and help us towards our target to raise funds for the new MS Centre!

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.  We have once again signed up for the 'Midnight Ridgeway Walk' , which is  a 20 mile hike throughout the night organised by Swindon Thamesdown Rotary Club from Avebury to Bishopstone (on 13 June), as well as the MS Challenge (a team event, carrying a person with MS in a wheelchair, around a 10km orienteering course in the foothills of Snowdon (on 3-5 July)  - crossing rivers, through forests and mud, often waist deep, or higher - no joking!.

As we are Chairman and Manager, we are supporting the Swindon Therapy Centre, which serves the MS Community in and around Swindon.  The Centre provides a range of  therapies, support, advice and information for people with MS, their families and carers.  The therapies offered by the Centre are a major contribution to the fight against MS. Not only does the Centre offer support, but also practical solutions to problems and help with day to day living.

In 2008 the Centre started treating other conditions, such as Strokes, Parkinsons Disease, as well as children with Cerebral Palsy, Autism and brain injuries, as all these conditions can benefit from the oxygen therapy, physiotherapy and other therapies we offer.

Through a huge amount of fund-raising and donations we have been able to secure a  new building costing £400k ( the former Farepak building in West Swindon), which will allow us extend our services further.  We still need to raise £200k to cover the costs of additional equipment  and an extension to house the larger oxygen chamber, which can make a real difference to users.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Swindon Therapy Centre gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now for this double challenge!  Thank you!
