Story
Mum and I successfully completed our challenge last weekend, by doing the 165 foot free-fall abseil from the Forth Rail Bridge. Stepping off the railings was certainly a challenge (gulp!), even though heights don't bother me too much. It was a lovely sunny day and I enjoyed the remaining 165 feet. It was lovely to have a few family and friends there to cheer us on too.
Thank you all for your donations; thanks to your generosity we have raised far more than we imagined - at least £2,500, and it means a lot to have been able to do this in Dad's memory. I know the money will help Myeloma UK raise awareness of this condition and will make a difference for others.

In June I am taking part with my Mum, in the Forth Rail Bridge abseil in memory of my Dad, Brian (http://www.justgiving.com/remember/118805/Brian-Wilson).
We had never heard of myeloma before Dad was diagnosed in 2007. It is a challenging condition, and Myeloma UK are a source of information and support for individuals with myeloma and their families.
My Dad strongly believed
that life is a journey, that we should make the most of every day, and that if
there is something you want to do in life that you should get on with doing it. Myeloma didn’t change that, it reinforced his conviction. The Forth
Rail Bridge
is an iconic landmark that I have known since childhood. When I read about the abseil in the Myeloma UK newsletter I thought, I could give that a go. I am
pretty sure that it will be one of those marmite moments – I’m hoping I will love
it rather than hate it! Either way, I will have given it a go, and though he won’t be there to cheer us on in
person, I know Dad would be proud of us. The money we raise will help fund improved diagnosis and research into better treatments for others
whose lives are touched by myeloma.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any donation you choose to give,
