Story
This year I am walking for a different charity than I normally do, Mountbatten Hampshire.
I am walking for 3 days on the Tenby & Pembrokeshire coast in August (fingers crossed not a heatwave) and 2 days on the North Yorkshire Moors and coast in November (fingers crossed not a deluge)
My decision to raise money for Mountbatten Hampshire is in memory of Sophie Ann Beezer (27 January 1979 - 5 April 2021 ) who the Hospice helped care for in the last 2 weeks of her all too short life.
The hospice was truly wonderful to Sophie, her husband Tom and Sophie’s dog Peggy during that time.
Sophie was only 42 when she passed away having been fighting
against Cancer for the last years of her life.
I found Sophie to be a truly amazing and inspiring person, often in my
thoughts when climbing all those hills for Breast Cancer Now!
Sophie fought so hard to fight the disease, working as much and as long as she could and not letting the cancer stop her from doing what
she wanted for such a long time.
It’s time we found a cure for Cancer and as long as I can still walk I will be helping to raise funds to help us do that. In the meantime we need to help make life for the sufferers of the disease as good as possible and Mountbatten Hampshire Hospice do that in such a fantastic way.
Your sponsorship would help raise funds for the Mountbatten Hampshire
Hospice, see below how much your money can help
- £25 could help fund one hour of complementary
therapy for our patients - £50 could help fund a month’s support materials for
bereavement sessions - £100 could help fund our patient & visitor
transport service for one day - £200 could give someone a day of personal care,
helping them remain in the comfort of their own home - £250 could pay for a Mountbatten Nurse to be with a
dying patient at home during the night - £350 could pay for a 24-hour stay in a bed on our
hospice ward
Please help me reach my target this year by sponsoring me and helping the Hospice to continue to provide such great support to those that need it.
Mountbatten-Hampshire (formerly Countess Mountbatten Hospice) is a charity which provides free care and support to people with any life-limiting illness, including respiratory disease, Motor Neurone Disease, heart disease, advanced dementia and cancer. We also provide free bereavement and psychological support to patients and their families. We are an independent charity which, each and every year, must raise more than £7m to ensure we can care for the growing number of people who need us.
