At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

My Auntie is currently living with Dementia and is in the latter stages of the illness. I knew so little about the effects of dementia until she was diagnosed so I want raise awareness of what it actually is and the simple ways where communities can help. Given the COVID events of the past 6 months, the charity is also struggling to keep up with their valuable research so I want to do something to help them continue and hopefully work towards future treatments and finally create a world without Dementia.

The London Marathon also has a special place in our family as I met my husband as he ran down The Mall in the 2000 event. Originally this year's event would have taken place on the 20th anniversary of our first date and our 18th wedding anniversary. We were both going to be volunteering but it wasn't to be. However we are now both running and walking it and hope to get that photo of us crossing the 'virtual' line together! (aaahhhhhhh 😀)
