Story
I will be joining a group of women to climb Snowdon; they started the life climb in 2013 in aid of one of their friends who unfortunately was unable to complete the climb. This year they will be climbing Snowdon for their different charities.
I will be climbing Snowdon for my own reasons. In 2011, my Mum was diagnosed with colon cancer with secondaries in the liver. This was devastating news. But she fought through for as long as possible, she eventually grew very weak and needed more care than us as a family could provide. She was admitted to hospital with complications and no surgical option available. Again, this was heartbreaking. She was then transferred to St Ann's hospice for palliative care. She remained with us until the 19th February 2014, in this time the care that was given to us by the nurses, doctors, complimentary therapy staff and the volunteers was remarkable. They were all so empathetic, softly spoken, respectful and caring. Nothing was ever too much to ask. They not only supported my Mum in keeping her comfortable and pain free but they provided support for family and friends in this hard time.
