Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The long story ... 7 years ago Bradfield primary school, where I still work, was fundraising for a new school hall. A few of the staff, including myself, decided to cycle from Bristol to Bradfield to raise much needed funds. The success, both financially and socially, was amazing. In fact our new school hall was completed in 2011. And our cycling crew have continued to cycle each summer holiday.
So 7 years on and several short breaks later, ("short" due to number of nights away and distance cycled,) we are fund raising again.
In summer 2014, whilst cycling in Oxford, one of our team, Jane, explained that her niece Rachel, had been diagnosed with cervical cancer. She was only 29 when she died and Jane wanted to do something in her memory . So, as good friends we are supporting her by joining this cycle ride.
It also resonates with me as both my mum and my aunt died from cancer related conditions
"Ride the Night" is a women only cycle challenge. 2000 women will cycle 100km at night around the streets of London.. We are very social cyclists, often spending more time having coffee than on our bikes! It will be a challenge for us all, so we have already started training to ensure that we complete the course.
Money raised by Women v Cancer challenges goes to Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust, Ovarian Cancer Action and Breast Cancer Care, charities fighting 3 major women's cancers.
