1,540 MILES IN ONE DAY

On 19th March 2011, I will be undertaking a challenge with staff and volunteers of FACT to sail 1,540 miles with a fleet of boats around the River Blackwater so that we can raise enough money to replace an engine for an important safety boat called 'Jaffa'. We will be working together to reach that mileage, but it still won't be easy to achieve in one day.
I am asking for your support to help me raise £2000 by either:
+ Sponsoring 50p for every mile that I cover that day! (email jackhwhiting@hotmail.co.uk to get on sponsorship form)
+ or any other donations to help reach that £2000 goal!
Fellowship Afloat Charitable Trust (FACT) has played an important role not only in my life, but also to thousands of people who have crossed the country (and some the English Channel) to visit the giant, red lightship moored in the middle of nowhere.
The organisation is often seen riding the waves in the River Blackwater, but relies on two RIBs and a dory for care and precious cake supplies.
Unfortunately, that dory needs our care now as her engine has finally given up. 'Jaffa' plays a key role as a nimble, resilient boat that can reach places too shallow for other boats, so it is crucial to replace her with an engine that is as strong as 'Jaffa' so FACT can still provide a superb service for the people who come for an adventure.
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
