Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I have choosen to run both races for 2 charities this year; This page is raising money for the National Autistic Society, who offered me a place in the GSR last year. If you wish to support my other charity, Alpha1 Awareness UK, please view my other page at http://www.justgiving.com/jackcherryalpha1
.

The BUPA Great South Run takes place over a fast, flat 10-mile course, starting and finishing on the sea front in Southsea, Portsmouth. It provides varied scenery coupled with stunning views and passes many outstanding historic landmarks, so please come down to the seaside on Sunday 25th October 2009 for an ice cream and to cheer me on!

3 weeks later, on Sunday 15th November 2009, I shall also be running in the 24th Gosport Half Marathon, another fast flat course which proved to have very good PB potential last year. The 13.1 mile route starts and finishes at Bay House School and takes runners over the airfield and along the seafront with views to the Isle of Wight.

This will be the second time I have entered the GSR, and my first competative Half Marathon. I ask you all to donate what you can to sponsor me in simply completing both courses. I'm currently running reguarally on the GSR course, just a stones throw from where I live. With a cross training programme that includes swimming, weightlifting, running, surfing, 5-a-side football and BMF 3 times a week, I intend to complete the 10 miles in a PB time of 1hour 15min and the Half Marathon in under 1 hour 45mins.

Life is tough for many of the two million people living with autism in the UK today. For the person with autism and their families the world can seem a very lonely and frightening place and their biggest challenge can be simply getting through the day. Through a range of practical and emotional support services the National Autistic Society (NAS) helps make life a little bit easier for them.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: National Autistic Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
