4x4x48 Team Running Challenge · 23 July 2021
I am part of a six-man team partaking in a Navy Seal inspired running challenge to help raise funds for MS Society, a cause close to our hearts, across the weekend of Friday 23rd - Sunday 25th July.
The challenge was designed by former Navy Seal and ultra-marathon athlete, David Goggins, and the details are simply:
Run 4 miles, every 4 hours for 48 hours.
"The challenge is definitely a feather in your cap. It broadens your horizons and makes your mind think deeper about what is possible. (David Goggins, 2019)"
The six of us will be running, eating and sleeping all from the same location in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. We will look to beat fatigue, muscle soreness and sleep deprivation to complete the challenge for the purpose of pushing our physical and mental limits, alongside raising as much money as possible for a truly worthwhile cause.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neurological condition - that means it affects your nerves. You get it when your immune system isn’t working properly.
Your immune system normally protects you by fighting off infection, but in MS it attacks your nerves by mistake. Your nerves control lots of different parts of your body. That’s why you can get MS symptoms in many parts of your body. It’s also why everyone’s MS is different.
Once diagnosed, MS stays with you for life, but treatments and specialists can help you to manage the condition and its symptoms.
This is why we're fundraising, to help find a cure but also to help provide care to those currently living with MS. Please give anything you can to help, and join us if you're in Essex across the 48 hours!
