Story
Myself and 3 friends are raising money to help Alzheimers Uk, a charity very close to our University, Loughborough's heart. We are going to be raising money by doing a number of challenges, with the first being walking a marathon on a cold winter day on Saturday the 12th of December from Loughborough round Leicester and back to Loughborough.
We are doing this with the end goal to raise at least £2,400 as a team (£600 each), and if we are successful get to travel around Europe as a team after a very challenging year for us all.
We would really appreciate any donations if you are able to and please share the page so we can raise as much money for the charity as we can possibly can.
*The money raised is in no way funding the trip round Europe and going directly to Alzheimers UK
In June 2021, teams from Loughborough University will take a £500 car of their choice on an epic 2000-mile journey across 12 countries. Since Alzheimer's disease was first diagnosed in 1901, Loughborough University was established, astronauts have travelled to the moon, research has helped double cancer survival rates, and a diagnosis of HIV is no longer a death sentence. Yet, we still don't have any treatments to slow or stop the diseases that cause dementia.Alzheimer's Research UK wants to see a world free from the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia and research is the answer. Alzheimer's Research UK are the UKs leading dementia research charity, and are powering world-class research studies to beat dementia sooner. Backed by passionate scientists and supporters, they're challenging the way people think about dementia, uniting the big thinkers in the field, and funding the innovative science that will deliver a cure.
