This year for my birthday, instead of any gifts, I would really appreciate donations, of any amount possible, towards Mind - a mental health charity based in the UK. 

A lot of you will know this past year has been a tough one for many people's mental health. During the pandemic, about 4 in 10 adults in the U.S. have reported symptoms of anxiety or depressive disorder, up from one in ten adults who reported these symptoms from January to June 2019. In the UK, around one in five (21%) adults aged 16 years and over experienced some form of depression in early 2021, more than double those observed before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Some of you will know it has been a particularly tough year for my own mental health, one I am - frankly speaking - very fortunate to have come out the other side of. Now, I am finally able to get the treatment and help I need.

However, in this journey, I am particularly lucky in that I have had the resources and support to navigate these difficulties. Other people are not so lucky. As someone who is (now) very vocal about the journey I’ve been on, I know how many others are still struggling in silence or don’t know where to turn for the help they need. This is where Mind comes in!
