Story
On October 2nd I will be running the London Marathon to raise money for the Debbie Fund, which was set up in memory of my mother Debbie Phillips who died from cervical cancer at the age of 48.
Cervical cancer is the fourth most common female cancer worldwide and the most common cancer for women ages 15-34, with around half a million new cases and a quarter of a million deaths per year. The five year survival rate of this population is just 64%, and 50% of patients experience a relapse after radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Currently, there is no effective treatment for these women. The Debbie Fund is the only organisation devoted solely to the discovery of new treatments for cervical cancer. It is based in the UCL Cancer Institute, and established the world's first dedicated research programme into treatments for cervical cancer, with every pound raised funding this research.
Any donations you can make, however big or small, will be massively appreciated by the charity as the Debbie Fund is close to completing its research. If there are any funds left over, these will be used for other amazing cancer research projects within UCL.
Thank you very much for your support!
