Story
Bay 2 Bay Ocean Marathon
After completing the Lundy to Croyde Paddle in 2018, the team are back with another epic challenge, the goal is to paddle 26 miles between Croyde Lifeguard hut and Saunton Surf Lifesaving club nonstop!
This will involve a 8-10 hour paddle including running the difference of the tide back to the huts between each lap.
The team of 6 consists of Ian Bennett, Stuart Poynter, Pete Makepeace, Jack Patching, Jake Sayer and Sam Hedges.
The team are aiming to raise £3000 for 3 different charities, The Wave Project, Alzheimer’s UK and Croyde Surf Lifesaving Club.
The Wave Project is a surf based charity who support young people throughout the UK with physical or mental health conditions. Here in North Devon the Wave Project have been running for 8 years and are now supporting 300 local young people every year and growing. Alongside this the Wave Project are also enabling physically disabled young people from all over the country the opportunity to try surfing.
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity. They campaign for change, fund research to find a cure and support people living with dementia today.
Croyde Surf Lifesaving Club run weekly lifesaving sessions for the local community in Croyde and have kindly donated the equipment and safety cover for this challenge. This club is a vital part of the local community and provides a fantastic social and fitness club for adults and children alike. Many of our current and past serving lifeguards learnt their trade at the club and now keep North Devon’s beaches safe.
If you can please leave a donation for these 3 amazing causes and if anyone can offer any prizes or support any other way please email ianb@waveproject.co.uk.
