Story
The Central England Brain Injury Charity raises funds to enhance the facilities at the Central England Rehabilitation Unit (CERU) in Leamington Spa. CERU supports people who have had an acquired brain injury, stroke or other neurological event. Individuals can spend a long time at CERU and this charity provides vital funds for equipment and helping to make the ward more comfortable for patients and their families.
My name is Jack and I am an Occupational Therapy student at Coventry University. A fundamental part of the course is the completion of 3 practice placements. My first placement took place at the Central England Rehabilitation Unit based at Leamington Spa Hospital. The placement opened my eyes to the daily challenges that both patients and staff face during recovery from a brain injury. Working at the unit not only helped me gain knowledge to be successful in my future career but also showed me how much hard work and perseverance is needed to overcome the obstacles associated with illness and injury. So, in order to say thank you I am aiming to complete my own personal challenge, the 50p’s for 50 miles challenge! To do this I will be completing a half marathon, triathlon and a marathon – culminating in a total distance of just over 50 miles.
If you are able to then please donate, but if not then just contribute your support to promoting the awareness of CERU and the Central England Brain Injury Charity.
Thank you.
The events I am undertaking include:
The Kenilworth Half Marathon - 03/09/2017
The Warwickshire Triathlon - 24/09/2017
The Birmingham Marathon - 15/10/2017
Wish me luck! : )
