Story
Dear Friends and Family!
This year I have decided to take on the ultimate challenge of running a marathon! Yes that is 26 miles I have chosen to run. You may say I have lost my mind and have gone mad but it is something I have wanted to do for while and felt this year would be the perfect opportunity. I have been training every week and am looking forward to completing it.... I hope! I have chosen to run for a charity, The Cystic Fibrosis Trust. A UK based charity comitted to fighting the life threatning disease of CF.
CF is an inherited disease and affects over 8, 500 people in the UK. It mainly affects the lungs and digestive system clogging them with thick, sticky mucus making it difficult to breathe and digest normally. Obviously this greatly restricts a CF individual from living a normal life that so many of us benefit from. People with CF have to take alot of time out of their days to carry out various treatments such as physiotheraphy, medication, breathing aids and special exercises to keep them going. This does not mean people with CF just stop and give up with their lives, many carry on and live life to full. An example, a friend of mine Joe Denman has CF but continues to battle through it with his punk rock band Orange, being the lead singer of the band he says that singing actually helps his condition. Please check out Orange on their myspace www.myspace.com/orange
Sadly at present there is no cure for the disease and ONLY half the CF population can expect to live over just 38 years of age. However The Cystic Fibrosis trust is investing and researching every day to battle this horrible disease.
If you would like to find out more about the CF Trust please visit: www.cftrust.org.uk
To help me complete this marathon and to support the CF Trust I would be so grateful if you would like to sponsor me. I will be running The Brighton Marathon on 18th April 2010, the UK's latest full marathon destination. www.brightonmarathon.co.uk.
Any donation would be fantastic and is going toward such a worthwile charity- please dig deep into your pockets- pennies, pounds- whatever you can spare for this cause.
Please note all the money you donate will go straight to the charity through the justgiving website. Please also note that if you are a UK tax payer you can select Gift aid with your donation which will contribute a further percentage of your donation. I will be in touch with you in response to your donation!
I look foward to hearing back from you and thank you for taking the time to read my sponsorship blog.
If you have any questions please email me: longview_22@yahoo.co.uk
