Story
My close friend, George, was treated by the Great North Air Ambulance team after he attempted suicide by hanging. He was airlifted to hospital where he remains, fighting for his life.
The crew arrived within minutes to his home in Teesdale and were able to start treating him immediately.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service rescues hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year throughout the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria.
Their doctor-led critical care teams deliver life-saving treatments at the scene of the incident, whether on a fell top, a roadside or in a city centre.
The charity responded to more than 1,600 call-outs last year via their helicopter and rapid response vehicles, performing treatments and procedures which can mean the difference between life or death.
