Story
Hello there,
As some of you may know, it’s been a long term dream of mine to rename Mount Kilimanjaro. As of September 2011, the tallest freestanding mountain in the world shall forever and always be known as Mount KilimanJARVIS......
Seriously though....
This autumn a group of friends and I will be nipping up all 19,340 feet of Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for a fantastic charity called Practical Action – (www.practicalaction.org). Long story short, Practical Action are all about helping people in developing countries by showing them simple technological solutions to their problems. This is a charity that I have fundraised for in the UK and I’m really looking forward to doing something a bit more hands on (and frankly dangerous sounding – around 40% of climbers have to turn back before hitting the summit).
I’m fully aware that this is going to be an awesome experience and the opportunity of a lifetime and so I AM GOING TO BE PAYING FOR MYSELF. The total amount that I need to raise is £2400, half of which is my costs, and half of which is solely for Practical Action and all of the great work that they do. I have already paid £200, leaving me with £1000 left to go and with just a measly £1200 to raise from all of you kind and generous people. I’ll be chucking my bit in the pot with you guys (as I earn it).
I understand that everyone is looking for a bit of charity these days, but any amount that you’re prepared to give today, however small or great would be really appreciated. If any of you have any other ideas to raise money such as things you would maybe be prepared to sell, events I could attend and fundraise at or any ideas at all, please get in touch.
This is the best way for us to donate, its safe and cheap and all goes directly to the charity. They also won't be hassling you with spam or anything like that, so there's no reason not to get involved.
I'll be keeping this page updated as I go. Cheers everybody x x
